L'innovation

in the service of health

  • The Pitié-Salpêtrière Liver Institute is at the forefront of medical innovation in the field of liver disease. We are constantly exploring new treatment methods, such as:
  • TIPS
  • Ablation techniques in interventional radiology (electroporation, microwaves, cryotherapy)
  • Cyberknife
  • Minimally invasive surgery
  • Robot-assisted surgery
  • Fluorescence-guided surgery
  • Perfusion on perfusion for liver transplantation
  • Immunotherapy
  • MARS
  • Plasmapheresis to improve the chances of cure and recovery. Several clinical studies, in which you can participate if you wish, are also underway. The Pitié-Salpêtrière Liver Institute is here to support you throughout your liver care journey. Your health is our priority, and we make every effort to offer you the best possible care in a trusting and caring environment.
  • A collaborative and responsive approach

We understand the urgency and complexity of situations in which liver failure occurs. Our network is able to quickly set up (within 1 hour) a multidisciplinary consultation meeting bringing together hepatologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists-intensive care specialists and radiologists, to assess your eligibility for a liver transplant or other specific emergency treatments. This collaborative approach allows us to make informed decisions and offer you the best available treatment options, quickly, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

    Specialized infrastructure

Our Institute has a comprehensive, modern, and innovative medical-technical platform including several specially equipped critical care units, a dedicated operating theater, and an interventional radiology suite. We are able to offer you a full range of care, including advanced surgical, endoscopic, and radiological procedures. For example, we are able to perform TIPS (transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt) procedures 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to meet your urgent needs.
